The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, Announces the Appointment of Judge Matthew W. Pritchard

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. (August 1, 2024)Matthew W. Pritchard joined the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara as its newest judge following his Oath of Office Ceremony on August 1, 2024. Judge Pritchard brings a diverse and accomplished background to the bench, having served as a Senior Deputy City Attorney at the San Jose City Attorney’s Office prior to this appointment. His experience also includes notable positions at the Federal Defenders of San Diego and a prestigious clerkship at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In his previous roles, Judge Pritchard has demonstrated a strong commitment to justice and public service, qualities that will undoubtedly serve him well on the bench. His work at the San Jose City Attorney’s Office involved complex litigation and advisory services, providing him with a wealth of experience in public law and a deep understanding of the community he now serves.
