Grand Re-Opening: Children’s Waiting Room Opens at Morgan Hill-South County Courthouse
SAN JOSÉ, Calif. (July 14, 2025): The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, in partnership with Catalyst Community, is proud to announce the grand re-opening of the Children’s Waiting Room at the Morgan Hill–South County Courthouse. The enhanced facility will officially re-open its doors to the public on Monday, July 14, 2025.
This free, first-come, first-served service provides a welcoming and developmentally appropriate space for children while their parents or guardians attend to court business within the courthouse. Located at 301 Diana Avenue, First Floor, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, the waiting room is open Monday through Friday from 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, with a daily closure from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for lunch.
“Our children’s room is filled with toys, games, and art activities to ensure that kids feel safe, supported, and occupied while their families handle often challenging legal matters,” said Presiding Judge Julie Emede. “We’re honored to offer this service in partnership with Catalyst Community to support families in Santa Clara County.”
The Children’s Waiting Room is staffed by trained childcare professionals and follows a strict registration and safety protocols. Upon drop-off, both the child and their guardian receive matching wristbands; children are released only to the adult wearing the corresponding wristband. Designed for children ages 2-12 who are in good health and fully potty-trained (no diapers or pull-ups), each child may attend for a maximum of 4 hours per day, up to 3 times per week, and no more than 12 hours per week.
In addition to the South County Courthouse location, the Children’s Waiting Room at the Family Justice Center Courthouse in San Jose was reopened on April 22, 2025, providing the same high-quality free childcare services for families attending court proceedings in that building.
