Adoption Day 2025: Celebrating Children and Forever Families
WHAT: Adoption Day is a statewide tradition each November in which courts open their doors to finalize adoptions and celebrate the creation and recognition of “forever families.” At the Santa Clara County Superior Court, we welcome families into the courthouse to share reflections, administer the adoption oath, and sign the orders that legally complete each adoption. For many, this day marks the end of a long journey and the beginning of a new chapter filled with security, healing, and hope. Following the hearings, families and partners gather for a celebration on the 8th floor featuring activities, commemorative moments, and food provided on site.
WHY IT MATTERS: This day shines a light on the love and commitment that defines family. It also showcases the Superior Court and the County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services team’s commitment to make the legal process accessible, compassionate, and community centered. We look forward to this day each year because it puts children and their well-being at the heart of the courtroom experience.
WHO: Santa Clara County Superior Court judges and staff, along with the County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS), will be hosting 14 adoptive families who are welcoming 16 children into permanent homes.
