What to Do When You Receive a Jury Summons
Option A
If you are QUALIFIED AND ABLE to serve:
Step 1) Register by verifying/updating your personal information through the Online E-Juror Portal. Select button below.
Step 2) After registering, follow the reporting instructions for your assigned week. The weekend prior to your service week, select the button below or call the jury line at (408) 808-6666, to receive your jury service reporting instructions.
Option B
If you are QUALIFIED BUT UNABLE TO SERVE DURING YOUR ASSIGNED SERVICE WEEK, and would like to request a postponement:
Register by verifying/updating your personal information and submit your request for postponement of your jury service to a different week through the Online E-Juror Portal. Select button below.
PLEASE NOTE: You are only allowed one postponement each time you are summoned. Service weeks start on a Monday. (If Monday is a Court Holiday, the service week will start on a Tuesday) There is no jury service on weekends and Court Holidays.
General Postponements
You will need to choose another week that you are available to serve. The week that you choose must fall within 90 days from your original service week.
Full-Time Students
You are expected to postpone your jury service to a week that you are on school break. The week that you choose must fall within 6 months from your original service week.
Nursing Mothers
You may choose another week to serve that falls within one year from your service week.
Option C
If you are NOT QUALIFIED OR UNABLE to serve and would like to request a disqualification or excuse:
Register by verifying/updating your personal information and submit your request for disqualification or excuse through the Online E-Juror Portal. Select button below.
