Bhanu Sadasivan Sworn In as Judge of the Santa Clara County Superior Court
SAN JOSÉ, California (October 1, 2026): The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, welcomed Judge Bhanu Sadasivan to the bench following her oath of office ceremony on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Judge Sadasivan brings a background in legal practice and scientific research. Before her appointment, she served as a Partner at McDermott Will & Schulte, a position she held since 2012. Her earlier legal experience includes serving as an Associate at Covington & Burling from 2008 to 2012 and at Heller Ehrman from 2004 to 2008.
Judge Sadasivan earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Before pursuing her legal career, she earned a Ph.D. in immunology from Yale University and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School.

Judge Sadasivan fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Joanne McCracken. The Court welcomes Judge Sadasivan and looks forward to her service to the people of Santa Clara County.
