Family Justice Center Courthouse Closed Temporarily Due to Power Failure

SAN JOSÉ, California (April 15, 2024): The Family Justice Center Courthouse (FJCC) is temporarily closed due to a power failure stemming from generator issues. As a result of this unforeseen circumstance, all afternoon appointments and scheduled events have been postponed until further notice.

Operations will be continued at the following locations:

• The Self Help Center, Clerk’s Office and all priority matters will be moved to the Downtown Superior Courthouse - DTS (191 North First Street San Jose, CA 95113).

• The Self Help Center is open for emergency restraining orders and emergency custody applications. All other submissions can be made via e-file or deposited in the drop box in the lobby of DTS.

• Domestic Violence and Gun Violence Restraining Orders scheduled for today will be heard in Department 6.

• Signs will be posted at the entrance of the FJCC to direct people to the appropriate building.

Updates regarding the status of the Family Justice Center's reopening will be provided via scscourt.org as soon as they become available. Efforts are underway by Court Administration to address the situation promptly. However, until a resolution is reached, the building will remain inaccessible to the public and will operate solely on emergency power. Court Administration apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this time.
