Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara to Host First Annual Name and Gender Marker Change Day of Celebration

The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara is excited to announce its first annual Name and Gender Marker Change Day of Celebration. This free event is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating individuals who have obtained or plan to file for a name and/or gender marker change in Santa Clara County. The event aims to honor the importance of identity affirmation and provide valuable information on using court orders to update identity documents.

Event Details:

- Date: Wednesday, August 28, 2024

- Time: 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM

- Location: The Old Courthouse, 161 N. 1st Street, San Jose, CA 95113

- Parking: Hourly metered street parking and nearby garages (many offer the first 90 minutes free).

- Dress Code: Come as you are

- Cost: Free

Event Highlights:

- Ceremonial Certificates: Individuals can receive a certificate signed by a judge, commemorating their name and/or gender marker change.

- Information & Resources: Representatives from community organizations will be on hand to provide guidance on updating identity documents and answer any questions.

This celebration is a collaboration between the Santa Clara County Superior Court, Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, The Q Corner, The LGBTQ Youth Space, LGBTQ Wellness, and the Office of LGBTQ Affairs.
