PRESS RELEASE: Rescission of General Order Regarding Electronic Recording in Specified Proceedings
SAN JOSÉ, California (August 17, 2026): The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara has rescinded its General Order regarding the operation of electronic recording equipment for specified proceedings involving fundamental liberty interests when a court reporter is unavailable.
The rescinded General Order was originally filed on November 14, 2024. The rescission was ordered by Presiding Judge Julie A. Emede on August 14, 2026.
The Court will follow the opinion issued on August 10, 2026, in Family Violence Appellate Project et al. v. Superior Court of Contra Costa County et al. (S288176).
