Santa Clara County Honors Reunified Families
SAN JOSÉ, California (June 5, 2026): On May 29, 2026, the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara proudly celebrated its annual Family Reunification Day, recognizing the strength, perseverance, and dedication of families who successfully reunited after overcoming significant challenges. The celebration brought together judicial officers, child welfare professionals, advocates, community partners, and families to honor the importance of family reunification and the collaborative efforts that make it possible.
Family Reunification Day is observed annually between Mother's Day and Father's Day and serves as an opportunity to recognize families who have worked diligently to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes for their children. This year's celebration honored five families who achieved reunification through their commitment, consistency, and determination throughout the dependency court process.
"The parents we honor today demonstrated extraordinary commitment to making positive changes in their lives and creating safe, loving homes for their children. Their journeys remind us that reunification is possible when families are supported, communities come together, and individuals remain steadfast in their dedication to their children," said Hon. Shawna Schwarz, Supervising Judge of Santa Clara County's Juvenile Dependency Court.
The event was hosted through the continued partnership of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, the Department of Family and Children's Services, the Dependency Advocacy Center, Legal Advocates for Children and Youth, the Office of the County Counsel, First 5, Santa Clara County, and Child Advocates of Silicon Valley. The Court also recognizes the ongoing efforts of the Dependency Court Judges and the many professionals who work year-round to support children and families on their reunification journeys.
