Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara Announces Winners of the Law Day 2025 Video Contest

SAN JOSÉ, CA (May 1, 2025):  The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, in collaboration with the Santa Clara County Bar Association (SCCBA), is proud to announce the winners of the Law Day 2025 Video Contest, held under the theme "The Constitution's Promise: Out of Many, One."

This annual event engaged and inspired our community's youth, ages 12 to 20, to participate actively in democracy by exploring and expressing their perspectives on fundamental questions about the democratic process.

“The 2025 Law Day theme, The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One, invited individuals and communities to reflect on our shared responsibilities under the Constitution and the democratic principles that guide our nation,” said Commissioner Johanna Thai Van Dat.

The Constitution enshrines our collective responsibility to one another. The 2025 Law Day theme urged youth to take pride in a Constitution that bridges our differences to bring us together as a united nation. Our civic lives tie us together as one “We,” whether through legislative efforts that serve the common good, through military service, or through working together every day to fulfill the promise of E pluribus unum—"Out of many, one."

“Democracy isn’t a spectator sport, it’s a full contact game.  If we want our country to live up to the values of E pluribus unum, we all have to participate.  That means voting, knowing your rights, and standing up for others,” said James Weaver Jr., the first-place winner, who eloquently captured the spirit of this year’s Law Day theme.

We are thrilled to recognize the outstanding achievements of the following students:

All contest entrants received a certificate of participation, and the top three winners were awarded prizes, including Great America passes generously donated by SCCBA and gift cards. The winning entries are featured on the Court's public website and social media channels, highlighting the talent, creativity, and civic spirit of Santa Clara County’s youth. The Court extends its sincere gratitude to SCCBA for its partnership and support in making this program possible.

The Court thanks all participants for their thoughtful and inspiring contributions to this year’s Law Day celebration. Together, we honor the enduring promise of our Constitution and continue working toward a brighter, more united future.
