Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara Launches “Judicial Branch: Past, Present and Future” Campaign

SAN JOSÉ, CA (July 1, 2026):  The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara today announced the launch of a comprehensive public engagement campaign, “Judicial Branch: Past, Present and Future,” in recognition of two historic milestones: the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 100-year anniversary of the Judicial Council of California.

Spanning from July 1, 2026 (the week of Independence Day) through September 17 (Constitution Day), the campaign will highlight the essential role of the courts in upholding democratic values, ensuring access to justice, and serving communities across Santa Clara County and California.

This initiative aligns with statewide efforts to commemorate the Judicial Council’s centennial while elevating local perspectives on how courts continue to evolve in service to the public.

“This campaign brings together local, statewide, and national milestones to tell a unified story of how disputes are resolved under the law,” said Presiding Judge Julie A. Emede.  “Reminding us that while courts are rooted in history, they remain essential in shaping the future of our democracy.”

Through a coordinated series of op-eds, multimedia storytelling, and community outreach, the Court will highlight the enduring relevance of the rule of law and the Constitution in modern society.

As part of this effort, court leadership will contribute a six-part op-ed series exploring the evolution of California’s courts, expanding access to justice, community engagement, and the future of the judiciary. These pieces are intended to inform the public, contribute to statewide dialogue, and offer meaningful perspectives from judicial leaders.

The campaign will also highlight the Court’s ongoing community engagement through educational outreach, school partnerships, and public-facing resources on rights and court access. In July, the Court will host a staff appreciation event in recognition of Independence Day and its continued service to the community.
