Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara Welcomes Hon. Sarah Cook

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. (February 25, 2026)The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara is pleased to announce the swearing-in of Hon. Sarah Cook, who was appointed by Gavin Newsom on August 7, 2025.

Judge Cook brings more than a decade of experience in dependency and child welfare law to the bench. She most recently served as Director of Policy and Legal Services at the Dependency Advocacy Center, a role she has held since 2023.

Prior to that, she served as Corridor Managing Attorney from 2017 to 2023 and as a Staff Attorney from 2013 to 2017, where she provided legal advocacy and leadership in matters affecting children and families.

Judge Cook earned her Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law. Her extensive experience in policy development, courtroom advocacy, and legal services leadership reflects a strong commitment to equity, due process, and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Judge Cook fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge L. Michael Clark.

The Court looks forward to Judge Cook’s service and contributions to the administration of justice in Santa Clara County.
