Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara Welcomes Two Newly Appointed Judges
SAN JOSÉ, CA (June 30, 2026): The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Kroger and Bhanu Sadasivan to serve as judges of the Santa Clara County Superior Court following their appointments by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Jeremy Kroger, of Santa Clara County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Santa Clara County Superior Court, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Cindy S. Hendrickson.
Kroger has served as a Deputy Public Defender with the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office since 2014. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Federal Defender with the Federal Defender’s Office for the Eastern District of California from 2009 to 2014. He worked as an Associate at Munger, Tolles & Olson from 2007 to 2009.
Kroger earned his Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law. He brings more than 15 years of legal experience in criminal defense and public service to the bench.

Bhanu Sadasivan, of Santa Clara County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Santa Clara County Superior Court, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Joanne McCracken.
Sadasivan has been a Partner at McDermott Will & Schulte since 2012. Prior to that role, she worked as an Associate at several law firms, including Covington & Burling from 2008 to 2012 and Heller Ehrman from 2004 to 2008.
Sadasivan earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Her distinguished legal career includes extensive experience in private practice and complex litigation matters.
Presiding Judge Julie A. Emede welcomes the appointments, stating, "The Court is pleased to welcome Judge-Appointees Kroger and Sadasivan to the bench. Their professional accomplishments, dedication to the law, and commitment to serving the public will strengthen our Court and benefit the residents of Santa Clara County."
