Leah Abraham Appointed as Commissioner with the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara
SAN JOSÉ, CA (May 14, 2025): The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, is pleased to announce the appointment of Leah Abraham as a Court Commissioner. Ms. Abraham will be formally sworn in during an Oath of Office Ceremony on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in Department 17.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Abraham served as an Administrative Law Judge with the State Hearings Division of the California Department of Social Services, where she presided over public benefits hearings and issued more than 100 written decisions.
Presiding Judge Julie A. Emede welcomed the appointment, stating, “We are honored to welcome Leah Abraham to the bench. Her broad legal experience and commitment to public service make her an exceptional addition to our court. We look forward to the perspective and integrity she will bring to this role.”
Ms. Abraham brings over a decade of public service experience to the bench. She previously worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, as an Assistant District Attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, and as a Deputy Public Defender in Alameda County.
In addition to her courtroom experience, Ms. Abraham is committed to legal education and mentorship. She serves as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, where she co-leads a seminar on Criminal Law Ethics.
Ms. Abraham earned her Juris Doctor from UC Hastings College of the Law and holds a Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University.
